What's a Portrait Party?
Portrait parties are a fun opportunity to have beautiful portraits of your children, other family members, friends or co-workers! There is NO SESSION FEE. The event takes place at your home, or another location of your choice, where everyone is comfortable and natural. As the hostess you will receive a complimentary portrait package and earn a discount on portraits of your own, based on your guests' order totals.
You and each guest family will be scheduled for a 15 minute photography session. In that time period, I will capture anywhere from 15-50 images of your guests. During each session, portraits of groups, individuals or a combination of both can be taken. If you are interested in hosting a portrait party please contact me as soon as possible! Hostess Info
I ask that you provide a suitable outdoor space for creating professional photographs (for example, a park, your yard or garden). You will be required to invite a minimum of 5 guests to participate in the event. I would recommend that you provide a little party food and drink for your guests, maybe a picnic. You will schedule your guests’ photography sessions 15 minutes apart (use the hostess form above). Try to eliminate gaps in the session schedule to maximize your potential for free photographs. Your guests are not required to stay for the duration of the party. If there is time I will present a few previews on my laptop at the end of the party.
I will provide invitation postcards for you to fill out and mail. I will arrive about 30 minutes before the event to "scope out" and set up the session area and equipment. It is best for the session area to be located away from the rest of the party (this prevents children from being distracted during their sessions).
The guests will view their proofs online within just a few days of the Portrait Party and get their orders to you by the deadline you set (up to 2 weeks from the party). We will meet and go over the orders. After I do my part of the work and receive the orders back from the professional lab, I will get the orders to you and you deliver them to your guests.
Choose a color theme (solid colors are best) and clothing style that are representative of your family. Try to choose clothing that is likely to still be in style for many years, so you don't date your photos.
Long sleeves are recommended for adults to focus attention on the face. Short sleeves are fine for infants and children.
Dark-colored slacks or skirts with matching hosiery are most flattering for women.
Simple hairstyles and natural makeup are best. Hair should be trimmed neatly, but not cut within 48 hours of the portrait sitting.
Keep in mind that white clothing may add the look of extra weight; dark colors tend to be slenderizing.
How Much Should I Expect to Spend?
Portrait prices are extremely reasonable. You are being charged NO SESSION FEE! That saves you $40 right there. For information on pricing, visit the Investment page. Portrait Parties use the a la cart prices. There are NO HIDDEN CHARGES!
